2,444 security personnel to secure president’s visit in Aceh

A combined of 2,444 security personnel from the army and the national police will secure a two day-visit of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono at Nangroe Aceh Darussalam Province that will start on Monday.

 

The Iskandar Muda Regional Military Commander, Maj. Gen. Soenarko, told reporters in Aceh on Saturday that the security personnel would consist of 1,255 troops from the army, 125 officers from the air force, 30 officers from the navy and 844 police officers.

 

He also added that the first ring presidential security would be guarded by 45 top personnel of the Presidential Security Force (Paspampres).

 

On Monday the president is expected to inaugurate post-tsunami reconstruction projects funded by Aceh-Nias Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Agency (BRR) and the central government.

 

The projects include the Tsunami Museum, the “Thanks To The World” Park in Blang Padang, the new Ulee-Lheue Port and the Keuliling Dam in Aceh Besar.

 

The president is also expected to hold talks with local citizens at the Hermes Palace Hotel on Tuesday. (and)
