Jokowi Wants Military to Pursue More Humanitarian Operations

Jakarta. President Joko Widodo attended the opening of the five-day multi-country Komodo naval exercise, at the Indonesian Naval Base II in Padang, West Sumatra, on Tuesday (12/04).

In his speech, Joko stressed the importance of military operations other than war (MOOTW), including for humanitarian purposes.

“Improve health services. Build better public facilities. Help out in search and rescue missions. The real battle is to improve our humanity,” Joko said in his statement.

A total of 47 vessels from 16 countries will take part in the exercises until Saturday.
